12plus - The American Baptist Student Foundation at MSU

History

Forty-three years ago, American Baptists caught a vision of student ministry at Michigan State University and hired the first of eight Campus Ministers who have served. Although each era of ministry has had its own distinctions, the foundation of the work has remained the same. The Mission Statement makes clear what has always been central:

  • To invite students to saving faith in Jesus Christ
  • To nurture them in spiritual growth and discipleship
  • To integrate them into the life of the church
  • To engage them in Christian service and leadership

Formally known as the American Baptist Student Foundation at MSU, students in the past have called the ministry "The Baptist Student Center", and now call it "12Plus". For over thirty years, ABSF has had a special relationship with University Baptist Church, working cooperatively with UBC to offer spiritual guidance and meaningful programming for Christian students at MSU.
